New Profile New Look

I updated my profile. New folks may learn something about me. Old friends can hopefully be amused. You may have noticed my LJ looks a little different. I hope you like it.

Any of my flist can now add existing tags to one of my LJ entries. If you want to have the ability to create new tags or remove tags, please let me know.

I think paying was worth it for the customizations and extra pickies. I may even call in one day and do a voice post if I can think of something to say.

I enjoyed reading your profile: a beautiful example of a biography in a nutshell!

Glad to have found you
I'm the blogging mom of a medically complex kid, an 8 month old girl with a massive heart defect. I found your blog when looking into g-tube surgery and seem to come across it whenever I search for anything related to g-tube and baby eating issues.
You truly inspire me *and* it's good to know that we're not alone in many of our struggles.

Good luck to you. Cheers,
Ilene

Re: Glad to have found you
Welcome Ilene! Oh, I'm so touched you wrote that. Thank you! I hope sharing my experiences was at least somewhat useful to you. I feel I prolly haven't blogged about it nearly as much as I have struggled with it, because in the past it was a deeply personal and rather shamefilled issue for me. I know I can't fix his tumor. But somehow in the dark recesses of my mother mind, I thought I could fix his eating if I just tried hard enough. Writing about it has certainly helped me deal with it better, because now most days it's just another medical issue rather than my failing as a mother.

Writing Contest
Totally off topic, but I'm not sure I have a correct email address for you. I hope you see this.

The Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators has a $1500 grant for "Works in Progress." You can use toward childcare and other things. Materials to apply need to be postmarked no earlier than 2/15 and arrive no later than 3/15.
Here's the link: http://www.scbwi.org/awards.htm
If I don't get it, I hope you do :)

Cheers,
Ilene
