Aged friends?

Age prejudice 'ubiquitous in UK' - I was particularly struck by the quote "One key point is that a half of all people under the age of 24 have no friends over 70, and vice versa. And the data shows that those without intergenerational friendships are also more likely to hold negative beliefs about the competence of people over 70." Do you have any friends over the age of 70? I used to, but sadly they all died. Time to make some new friends.

I have several friends over (or nearly) 70. One is Elanore, who lives in San Diego. She was my "mom away from mom" while I was going to college. We met on a theatre tour of England in 1983.

My other good friend is Judith. I'm going to stay with her for 5 days at her new home in Bellingham while she recovers from abdominal surgery. We were at CMU at the same time, and worked together at Informix. She got me into quilting, community gardening, and is generally a great conversationalist and wonderful friend. I wish she lived closer, because we used to eat together to either a) clean out the fridge, or b) try a new recipe. Now that her daughter moved to Canada, I won't see her as much. :-(
