The editors of She's Such a Geek said they would be sending checks "ASAP." I'm so excited about earning $100! My first gig as a writer. I don't think I've been this excited about $100 since I was 12.

I want to spend the money on something meaningful to me, will last forever, and has something to do with my essay "Gimp Geek" about my life as a computer geek with a movement disorder. I do save electronics for a long time, but they won't last forever. The money doesn't have to be spent on an object, an experience that I would remember for a lifetime would also do. So far I've come up blank. Any ideas?

The editors also just launched a group blog at shessuchageek.com and it already has some interesting posts. The anthology's coming out in November.

Hrm, how about a book, something nicely leather bound for example. Or a piece of crystal if you have such a taste for things.

Congratulations!! What a great feeling.

I'll have to think about what you could spend it on.

Congratulations, that's really exciting!

A few ideas for the $100:

A piece of art or a collectible that has something to do with computers/technology

Digital scrapbooking software/supplies; make & print a scrapbook of you being a geek (bonus: you can keep using the stuff for other projects)

Donate it to a charity that has to do with computers/technology or medical research involving your condition

that's great news!

when I've gotten my few little writing checks, I've tended to put them towards art that I like. fwiw.
