Locks of Love

On Thursday, Special K got her hair cut. We were going to get her hair cut to shoulder length. She used to love having long hair, and I wanted to cut it, but she got tired of me brushing out the tangles every morning.

However the haircutter told us that if we cut another 2", we could donate her hair to Locks of Love. So Special K decided to get it cut shorter and donate her hair. I thought that was really sweet of her. Here's the hair she donated. I realise that sometimes Locks of Love sells the hair they donate, but that's because the hair isn't suitable for a child's wig. I think Special K's hair should be suitable, though this photo makes it look less dark than it truly is. The hand next to the hair is Special K's.

What a wonderful gesture. It's amazing that a three year old has that much hair, and that much heart to donate it! :o)

How wonderful that you've raised such a kind and thoughful little girl!

Also, although they sell some of the hair, the money goes to cover their other expenses -- they can't do what they do with JUST hair -- so it's still helping a very good cause.

(I donated a few years back when I cut my hair short-short -- I figured that at least if I hated the short hair, it wouldn't have been a total waste)
