If you're GF or know someone that is GF really well, you'll definitely get these! So funny!

SO FRICKING COOL

I've heard/read/seen online examples of this being done on a few major monuments: using computer graphics and complex rendering, create optical illusions on the outsides of buildings, turning them into living sculptures.

Here, the Sydney Opera House sails come alive.

What we've been talking about...

From Sherlock to Sheldon: Asexuality and Asexual Characters in SF/F
Track: Feminism and Other Social Change Movements

Panel description:
We're all familiar by now with the sexual orientations homosexual, heterosexual and bisexual. Much less discussed are asexuals, persons who do not experience sexual attraction. This panel discusses what asexuality is and is not, and proposes ways for authors to explore this overlooked orientation in their characters. Is it enough that a character has no on-page sex life, or should asexuality be more positively portrayed? Asexuality in real-time fandom and asexual characters in fiction and media may also be discussed as time allows.
#AsexualSFF

Panelists:
Jed Hartman
Liz Argall
K. Tempest Bradford, moderator
Rebecca [I didn't catch her last name], who suggested the panel, but didn't sign up to be on it because she wasn't sure she'd make it to Wiscon. The panelists asked her to be on the panel because two assigned panelists were missing.

Tempest said that mostly the panelists would talk and for the last half hour there would be time for audience q's and comments.

[My notes aren't a complete transcription and may represent my own language rather than the actual words of the panelists. I welcome corrections. I did not identify most audience commenters by name for privacy reasons. If you said something I paraphrased here and want your name to be used, please comment or send me a private message.]

Wow.

So busy. The move was way more work than my already worried mind had imagined, but we made it through. The new place is like a dream, where I have a beautiful room, waking up with an amazing human being who tells me he loves me every morning. The wedding festivities have been great. Divia looks really happy, and [info]perspectivism and [info]celandine13 are in town!!!! :) :) I'm hoping to get to see [info]celandine13 more before she leaves, and I've been able to hang out with Andrew quite a bit, which has been fabulous. Also really awesome to be seeing the Berkeley Singinst peeps. I already have so many friends here.

Time to get some sleep before getting up early to be a bridesmaid tomorrow!!

Kickstarter rewards update

Today, I spent a great deal of time taking care of various aspects of dealing with Kickstarter rewards to send out to people, so here’s a quick status update on that!

Those of you who supported the project, if you bought in on any reward tier that entitles you to Faerie Blood, you should be getting access to a big ol’ pile of digital versions of the cover art real soon now. Dara’s spinning off a huge assortment of resolutions, to cover not only computers but a variety of mobile devices as well!

Meanwhile, now that we have the confirmed final list of backers, we’re getting all the names into the new edition of Faerie Blood so that Dara can finish up the layout of the print and PDF versions, and I can put together the epub and mobi and any other versions we’re going to spin off.

I will also soon be working on deploying “The Blood of the Land” in digital form to all backers entitled to that, too.

A huge chunk of today went as well to organizing all my backer data and breaking it down by rewards, so that I have a clear list of who all gets what–and specifically, how many print copies I’ll need of both books, how many postcards, and how many posters. I am pleased to report that my original project estimate of about 50 print copies is about right, with some wiggle room for a few extra copies left over. Which will serve as my very first copies I’ll be able to make available to folks who didn’t get in on the Kickstarter in time!

And, I was pleased to be able to send off the first payment for art delivered to Kiri Moth. SO EXCITING. :D Huge, HUGE thanks go out to all of you out there who’ve made it possible for me to get Kiri to do such gorgeous work!

No actual writing done today–but then, all of this project work needed doing as well, so I consider it a productive day indeed! Tomorrow there will be some Folklife, but there will also be working on Bone Walker!

WisCon

I'm having a pretty good time so far.

I am behind on posting my panel notes.

I am commencing my annual spree of "adding of people associated with WisCon to my reading list/friends list."
